Rosacea is due to heat caused by the inflammatory response, and if constant, a weakening of the capillary wall will result, appearing as permanent visible capillaries. Early symptoms are persistent redness of the nose and cheeks, the redness gradually becoming more permanent.
The skin can appear to be oily, however the shiny appearance is due to trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Rosacea is frequently found in fair skinned people, but any nationality can develop it. This condition is not gender or age specific, but is more often found in women between 30 and 50 years of age, the skin often showing sensitivity to fragrances and preservatives. |
